A Busboys and Poetry #BusboysOnLive Event. The Friday Slam offers an opportunity for poetry lovers to virtually and in-person enjoy the competitive art of performance poetry!
Enjoy two rounds of high-intensity poetry, with the audience choosing the winner. Join us for an alternative way to spend your Friday night. The event will be live in-person at the Busboys and Poets Hyattsville location and streamed via Busboys and Poets Instagram live.
A poetry slam is a competitive event in which poets perform their work and are judged by members of the audience. Typically, the host or another organizer selects the judges from the audience, who are instructed to give numerical scores (on a zero to 10 or one to 10 scale) based on the poets' content and performance. Poets can perform in-person and on Instagram live. A maximum of 4 in-person and 4 online competitors will be able to sign up.

In-person competitors should arrive 30 minutes prior to the event and the selection is first-come-first-serve.
