Editor of the legendary Ramparts as well as editor-in-chief of Truthdig, a Webby-award-winning online magazine, and co-host of KCRW’s “Left, Right and Center,” Scheer in his tenth book issues a call-to-action to preserve the right of privacy. Currently threatened by the information revolution in general (witness Facebook’s 2012 manipulation of users’ moods by skewing content) and nearly unlimited government surveillance of citizens’ online and phone activity in particular, privacy, Scheer argues, is an essential foundation of democracy itself and without it, our very freedom is imperiled.
