As she did in her profile of Sugarloaf, Choukas-Bradley, also the author of the perennial favorite, City of Trees, intertwines the Park’s nature, culture, and history, giving a guide to the wild life, telling stories about the namesake families of the Peirce and Veirs Mills, and offering statements from presidents about what the park has meant to them. While Choukas-Bradley hiked, biked, skied, and canoed each of Rock Creek’s thirty-three miles, Roth, a former Better Homes and Gardens field editor and award-winning garden photographer with ten books to her credit, captures the landscape in stunning full-color photos.
