Jess Solomon is a systemsÂthinker, facilitator, and instigator of arts and social change projects
at Art in Praxis and the U.S. Department of Arts and Culture. Art in Praxis is a social
enterprise leveraging art and culture as key tools that build resilient communities &
organizations.
Jess is a Founding Cultural Agent with the new citizenÂpowered US Department of Arts and
Culture, a grassroots, creative change movement, engaging residents in performing and
creating a city (and world) rooted in empathy, equity, and social imagination. She's
barnÂraising the DC Field Office with local Citizen Artists. Jess also serve on the board of
Alternate ROOTS, a memberÂdriven resource for artists and cultural organizers based in the
South championing social and economic justice and the work of people in our field.
Jess holds a Master’s Degree in Organization Development from American University and is
organizing the first Anna Julia Cooper Day in Cooper's neighborhood of 50 years, LeDroit
Park. Last week she launched #TBTDCArt, a community archive hashtag to reminisce and share
memories from DC theatre, music, poetry, dance and festival life.
