Description:

Lead by Busboys and Poets owner & activist, Andy Shallal, The James Baldwin Book Club is inspired by the extensive writings of James Baldwin exploring topics of race and democracy. His writings are just as fresh and relevant today around current issues facing America. We will use his writings as a springboard for deep conversations around race, identity, politics and other matters that may arise and the Club would like to explore. Each month we will select a book or an essay by James Baldwin and couple it with contemporary writers in the same genre. The James Baldwin Book Club will meet on the fourth Sunday of every month between 9 AM and 11 AM at the Takoma Park location.

This month we will be discussing The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin.
