Screening of Cuba After Castro: The Island in the Crosshairs on the eve of the 100th anniversary of Fidel Castro's birth (August 13, 1926)
Join Busboys and Poets for a special screening of Cuba After Castro: The Island in the Crosshairs on the eve of the 100th anniversary of Fidel Castro's birth (August 13, 1926). Directed by Matt Belen and Abby Martin, the film offers a rare look at contemporary Cuba through the first and only American interview with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
As Cuba's first leader born after the Revolution, Díaz-Canel reflects on the country's revolutionary legacy while confronting intensified U.S. sanctions, a global pandemic, economic challenges, and historic domestic protests. Through unprecedented access, the documentary presents a perspective on Cuba's history, politics, and future that is rarely seen in the United States.
The evening will feature a special guest appearance by filmmaker Abby Martin, followed by a discussion and audience Q&A
