How did the Republican Party become so unhinged? Why are the Democrats unwilling to mount an effective opposition? US democracy faces its worst crisis in generations as Trump eradicates basic liberties and Democrats collude with billionaire donors to prop up the rotten status quo. This talk will put our current moment in historical perspective while taking stock of the midterm elections and the political scene heading into 2028. It will analyze the bipartisan roots of the democracy crisis, how it's driven by the billionaire class, what liberal explanations of it get wrong, and the need for a radical overhaul of the US political-economic order based on increased working class power.
