More about Randy
Dr Randy Villegas is the proud 31-year-old son of working-class Mexican immigrants who is using his PhD in Political Science to fight for his community. He's an educator, family auto shop owner, school board Trustee and Democratic nominee for Congress in California's Central Valley. With Prop 50 passing his seat CA-22 is now the most flippable in the entire country.
He's raised over $1 million with zero corporate PAC money from over 15,000 individual donors. The Republican incumbent David Valadao last lost his seat during the previous Trump midterms, and with polling and maps both even worse than 2018 - he's never been more vulnerable.
His Democratic Primary opponent Jasmeet Bains was the only Democrat in the California Assembly to vote against Prop 50, as well as not supporting a bill to unmask ICE agents in CA. And even though she has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporate PACs in the past, Randy is outraising her.
Randy is one of the standout candidates across this entire cycle and has the endorsement of Senator Bernie Sanders, civil rights icon Dolores Huerta, The Congressional Progressive and Hispanic Caucuses, and all four Democratic County Chairs in the district. Even a local Republican Mayor endorsed his campaign. Major labor players are also behind him including the National Nurses Union and United Auto Workers. This is a battle for CA-22, and the House, but it's also a battle for the soul of the Democratic Party. With our help, Randy will be one of the faces of the Democratic Party who can lead us into a winning, brighter future.
