Panelists:

Alan Eyre is a Distinguished Diplomatic Fellow at the Middle East Institute and the founder and president of EyreAnalytics LLC. He retired from the US Foreign Service in 2023 after 40 years. He was a core member of the US nuclear negotiating team from its 2010 start to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreement with Iran, serving as the team’s Iran subject matter expert and also as the State Department’s first Persian Language Spokesperson.

Jamal Abdi is President of the National Iranian American Council and the Executive Director of NIAC Action, the group’s sister organization. He first joined NIAC as Policy Director in 2009, directing efforts to monitor policies and legislation and to educate and advocate on behalf of the Iranian-American community. Previously he worked in the US Congress as Policy Advisor on foreign policy, national security and immigration issues. As one of a small number of Iranian Americans working on the Hill, he served as a Congressional advisor, liaison, and expert on foreign affairs, immigration, and defense.

Sina Azodi is an Assistant Professor of Middle East Politics at the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on international security and Iran’s history and national security. Dr. Azodi's research interests include international security, nuclear nonproliferation, and U.S.-Iranian relations. He previously worked as a research assistant at Princeton University’s Program on Science and Global Security and Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He is the author of forthcoming book: Iran and the Bomb, the United States, Iran and the Nuclear Question.

Negar Mortazavi is an award-winning journalist and political commentator, and editor and host of the Iran Podcast. She is a Senior Fellow at the Center for International Policy (CIP) and a Nonresident Scholar at the Middle East Policy Council (MEPC).Shehas been covering Middle Eastern affairsand US policytowards the region for over a decade. She was previously a television anchor for Voice of America where she hosted a Persian talk show on current affairs and an English news showon US elections. She was also a Washington Correspondent for Iran International television, and previously worked at the International Center For Journalists, the National Iranian American Council, and the United Nations Development Programmein New York.
