Description:

Georgetown Law Professor Abbe Smith will moderate a panel discussion on how to deal with America’s Mass Incarceration Crisis. Premal Dharia and her latest book, Dismantling Mass Incarceration: A Handbook for Change will fuel the conversation. The panel will provide perspectives from formerly incarcerated people: Troy Burner, wrongly incarcerated for over 24 years, and Vincent Delano Smith, wrongly incarcerated for over three years. The panel will also include perspectives from people who held roles in the carceral system: Premal Dharia, former public defender and now executive director of the Institute to End Mass Incarceration at Harvard Law School, and Jamila Hodge, former prosecutor and now executive director of Equal Justice USA. This event is presented by Brown Goldstein & Levy’s Criminal Defense Section: Jacqui Cadman and Kobie Flowers.
