Join us for a special Fourth of July Pre-Fireworks Open Mic at Busboys and Poets Anacostia! For two hours, enjoy a vibrant celebration of creativity before the fireworks light up the sky. Expect a diverse chorus of voices—professional spoken word artists, open mic rookies, and talented musicians—all bringing their fire to the stage. Come early, come open-hearted, and expect the unexpected!

About the Host – Sir Harvey Fitz
Sir Harvey Fitz is a curator of cultural awesomeness from Alexandria, Virginia, and a graduate of Virginia State University (BA, Mass Communications: Radio & Television Production). Based in the DC metro area, he’s a multifaceted creative—photographer, actor, producer, author, and award-winning spoken word artist.
In 2017, he launched Poetic Vibes Open Mic, a celebrated safe-space platform for creatives, featured in a Georgetown University documentary that won the Beek Center Social Impact & Innovation Award. His Black to the Future Festival brought over 100 Black-owned businesses to Anacostia in a vibrant community celebration.
Harvey's debut poetry collection, To Haiku’m It May Concern, won him a DMV Renaissance Award and earned him the title King of Haiku in the first-ever Haiku Verzuz Championship. He’s also the 2023 ArtToGoGo Spoken Word To GoGo Champion.
