Bringing the art of the story back to the dinner table, the Food & Folklore dinner series intertwines storytelling and fabulous food.

This evening's special guest is award-winning Palestinian Author and Chef, Laila El-Haddad!

Laila El-Haddad, the award-winning author of The Gaza Kitchen: A Palestinian Culinary Journey, has worked with the Busboys and Poets culinary team to present a 4-course dinner that beautifully highlights the diverse cultural tapestry of Palestine.

Enjoy each course while our featured speaker provides fascinating insights into the history and ingredients utilized in each dish.

$40 per person. Tickets include the 4-course meal and program.

Laila El-Haddad is an award-winning Palestinian author, social activist, policy analyst and journalist. She frequently speaks on the situation in Gaza, the intersection of food and politics, her own personal journey as a Palestinian mother and journalist, as well as on contemporary Islam. She has written for numerous newspapers and magazines, including the Baltimore Sun, Washington Post, International Herald Tribune, The New Statesman, The Daily Star, Le monde diplomatique, and has appeared on many international broadcasting networks, including NPR, CNN, Aljazeera, and CCTV.

She is the author of Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting, and Everything In Between and,co-author of the critically acclaimed The Gaza Kitchen: A Palestinian Culinary Journey,which was the recipient of‘Best Arab Cuisine Book’ award from Gourmand magazine, and a finalist at the 2013 MEMO Palestine Book Awards. She is also the co-editor the anthology Gaza Unsilenced.

In keeping with our ongoing mission of uplifting racial and cultural connections, Busboys and Poets is hosting Palestine Week (January 18 thru January 25, 2024). This week long series of events will offer a diverse range of programming featuring Palestinian food, music, dance, poetry, discussions and other enriching events.
