On Wednesday May 10, the Center for Economic and Policy Research’s Eileen Appelbaum will host an author talk with Pulitzer Prize winner Gretchen Morgenson, author of the new book,These are the Plunderers: How Private Equity Runs – and Wrecks – America (co-authored by Joshua Rosner). The event will take place in-person from 5:00-7:00pm at Busboys and Poets on 450 K Street. Morgenson will discuss the thirty-year arc of private equity’s emerging dominance, its biggest perpetrators, and the ways in which private equity harms us all. The event is co-sponsored by CEPR, Public Citizen, Americans for Financial Reform, and the Private Equity Stakeholder Project.

About the author: Gretchen Morgenson is the senior financial reporter for the NBC News Investigative Unit. A former stockbroker, she won the Pulitzer Prize in 2002 for her “trenchant and incisive” reporting on Wall Street. Previously at The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, she and coauthor Joshua Rosner wrote the New York Times bestseller Reckless Endangerment: How Outsized Ambition, Greed, and Corruption Led to Economic Armageddon about the mortgage crisis.
