Is it possible to tell nuanced stories about foreign places without relying on harmful narratives and stereotypes? Too often, traditional media treat the world as inherently foreign and incomprehensible because of a lack of knowledge about the places they report on. This issue is particularly pronounced in coverage of the Middle East, which has been plagued by damaging and inaccurate narratives.
As New Lines marks the release of its second print edition, join the founders in a conversation about the magazine's origins, its objective to offer global stories from local perspectives, and the challenges they face in covering these stories while also correcting false narratives from the past. The panel will be followed by a Q&A session with guests.
