Description:

Earthquake victims in Syria need your help! A devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit Northwest Syria, where millions of people are suffering due to slow humanitarian response.

Please join us on Friday, February 24 at 7 PM for a special screening of the Syrian film The Borrowed Dress, an award-winning documentary that explores the stories of Syrian refugees after they reach their new homes away from Syria.

100% of ticket sales will be donated to the Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF) campaign for Emergency Humanitarian Relief for Earthquake Victims.

About SETF’s Emergency Campaign:

In response to this unimaginable tragedy, the DC-based Syrian Emergency Task Force has multiple teams facilitating the distribution of crucial emergency aid, funds, and supplies to earthquake victims and first responders in Northwest Syria and Southern Turkey.

SETF has humanitarian programs operating in the disaster-affected areas of Gaziantep, Idlib, and Aleppo, which are currently acting as emergency assistance relief centers in their communities. SETF is raising funds to supply those programs with essential supplies during freezing weather which include water, tents, food, blankets, and medicine.

Every penny of this emergency campaign will go directly to these needs.

Click here for more information on the campaign.

Agenda:

7:00 - 7:30 pm - The event starts with an introduction to the disaster and the importance of donating

7:30 pm - 8:00 pm - Q&A session with the Syrian Emergency Task Force about their work and what your donations would do

8:00 - 9:00 Screening of 55-minute award-winning documentary The Borrowed Dress

About The Borrowed Dress:

Rubble, refugees, boats, life vests, diaspora. This has become a common image of Syrians, but extensive media coverage drops down to nothing after refugees reach an “alternative” home safely. The Borrowed Dress is a documentary that explores the stories of Syrian refugees from three different generations, Susu, Doaa, and Saad, who safely made it away from Syria, to find themselves faced with a bitter reality.
