Description:

Busboys and Poets Books Presents THE GENERAL’S SON

Join us to learn about the journey of an Israeli in Palestine.

Author Miko Peled, writes about his transformational experiences as a young man who'd grown up in the heart of Israel's elite. He served proudly in its military as a fearless advocate of nonviolent struggle and equal rights for all Palestinians and Israelis. His journey is mirrored in many ways the transformation his father, a much-decorated Israeli general, had undergone three decades earlier. Alice Walker contributed a foreword to the first edition in which she wrote. "There are few books on the Israel/Palestine issue that seem as hopeful to me as this one."

Miko Peled is joining on the Busboys stage for a celebration event, joined in conversation by Katie Halper. This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 5:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of The General’s Son will be available for purchase before and during the event.

We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books.

Miko Peled is a writer and human rights activist born and raised in Jerusalem. He is considered by many to be one of the clearest voices calling for justice in Palestine, support of the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, (BDS) and the creation of a single democracy with equal rights on all of historic Palestine.

Katie Halper is the host of The Katie Halper Show, a livestream, youtube show, podcast and WBAI radio show. She's the co-host of the youtube show and podcast Useful Idiots, which she co-founded with Matt Taibbi at Rolling Stone and now hosts with Aaron Maté. Past guests of these shows include Bernie Sanders, Noam Chomsky, Abby Martin, Miko Peled, Noura Erakat, Daniel Ellsberg, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and more. Her writing has appeared in The Nation, The Guardian, NY Mag and more.
