Description:

A salon-style discussion of how structural racism and historical events socially, economically, and politically disenfranchised Black residents in the District of Columbia, yielding stark differences in health outcomes by race and place. Moderated by Amanda Michelle Gomez of DC public radio station WAMU, panelists will include Georgetown University Professor Christopher King, the author of the study in the title, and Alan Weil, editor-in-chief of Health Affairs, the highly-regarded policy journal. The event, in conjunction with the journal’s February 2022 issue on “Racism and Health,” will engage a group of prominent health policy thought leaders, policymakers, and community advocates in a robust dialogue of these issues, with an eye towards possible solutions.
