A Busboys and Poets event hosted this week by Kanikki J.

s living up to her name. With over twenty five years of writing and over a decade on the poetry scene, KaNikki Jakarta has toured the US and the UK sharing the stage with Jill Scott, Raheem DeVaughn, and Lyfe Jennings. KaNikki J. writes and recites what she calls “real life fiction” that touches her listeners to the core. She has published two fictional novels: IN REAL LIFE & THE COLOR BLUE and she will release a third in late 2013 entitled THE OTHER SIDE OF PRETTY. KaNikki J is a success at multi-tasking wearing many hats: poet, host, and ASL Interpreter. She is the founder of NUSPA (National Underground Spoken word Poetry Awards.) FEATURING: IFRAH HUSSEIN

Ifrah Hussein is a Somali-Canadian award-winning poet who was born and raised in Toronto. Ifrah has been performing for roughly 15 years and speaks mainly about her experiences and affairs of the world. Ifrah is Canada’s 2017 national individual poetry slam champion, making her the first woman to have won this title. Ifrah has ranked in the top 5 of 96 poets at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in Texas, also making her the first Canadian to compete on finals stage in its 10-year history and was also among the top 4 countries at the Poetry World Cup in Paris. Ifrah has since taken her poetry to a number of countries and is the author of "An Anthology of Grief or the ways a Somali Woman loves".

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.

$5 cover. Wristbands are available for purchase online at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM (cash only). No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.

Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats.
