A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by E-Baby
Eric "E-Baby" Smith began writing poetry in July, 2000; since then, he’s opened for R&B artists Musiq Soul Child, Me’Shell N’degeOcello, & Lyfe Jennings to name a few. After joining Jus Wiggin Entertainment in 2002 [agent: Tracy Wiggs], his “1 Poet Poetical Tour†reached over 150 colleges & universities across the US. In 2014, he was named the Spokenword Billboard Award’s Hot100 Top Ranking Artist of the Year. In 2016, he received Best Poet at the DMV Underground Awards. He has two CDs [“My Thoughts Are In This Ink†& "Inktoxicated"] and a book of haiku poetry ["HAIKU-N-U"]. E-Baby's performed on numerous cable programs and radio shows, educated conferences and entertained festivals, and hosted numerous poetry events [currently hosting every 4th Thursday of the month at Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville, MD]. Also, an employee of the U.S. Copyright office at Library of Congress, he preaches the importance of Copyright and gives out information on how to properly register your work. Rebecca, a Louisiana native, is an educator, photographer and award-winning poet whose writing, performance, and contribution to the poetry community has been recognized in Philadelphia, Baltimore and beyond. Rebecca is the founder and creative director of A DOSE OF DUPAS, an event-based poetry company that houses several events to include Coffee & Critiques, a writer's circle, and "Come On Son!", a four- woman poetry collective. This poet, producer, event host & educator has published four CDs of original poetry and recently published a book entitled "The Exchange" in May 2013. Rebecca has appeared on TedxTalks, Centric, Fox 5, and OneMicTV.com. Her recent tour included appearances on C- Span & PBS News and in The Washington Post alongside President Clinton. For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
$5 Cover. No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.
Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in a forfeiture of seats.
