Join Busboys and Poets Focus In! Films for a screening and discussion of the human rights film, Mother, Daughter, Sister about Rohingya and Kachin women calling for an end to rape as a weapon of war in Burma.Â
Amae, Thamee, Ama (Mother, Daughter, Sister), is a short documentary film and advocacy project about the Burmese military’s practice of using rape as a weapon of war to subjugate ethnic women and how the survivors and families pursue their quest for justice.
The film revolves around the stories of Rohingya women living in the refugee camp in Bangladesh and Kachin women affected by conflict in northern Burma.
Q&A after the film with human rights activists, U Myo Win, Director of the Smile Education and Development Foundation in Burma, Seng Raw, of the Kachin Alliance, filmmakers Gregg Butensky and Jeanne Hallacy

Mother, Daughter, Sister is produced in partnership with Smile Education and Development Foundation (SEDF) in Yangon. SEDF founder Myo Win is the 2018 recipient of the Clive Snow Social Justice award.
Focus-In! Film Series: Cinema for a Conscious Community is a Busboys and Poets-produced monthly film series that screens films with a focus dedicated to social justice, peace, art, music, and/or community value.
