Description:

Busboys and Poets Books welcomes chef and author Bryant Terry to sign and discuss his latest book, Afro-Vegan: Farm-Fresh African, Caribbean, and Southern Flavors Remixed .

"Bryant Terry knows that good food should be an everyday right and not a privilege" - Alice Waters

Rising star chef, food justice activist Bryant Terry is known for his simple, creative and delicious vegan dishes inspired by African-American cooking.  His new landmark cookbook Afro-Vegan features 100 modern and enticing vegan recipes reworked and remixed with favorite staples and classic dishes from African and the African diaspora.

Terry interweaves his personal memories with an exploration of key African ingredients popular in Carribbean and Southern fishes - like okra - tracing their history and giving them cultural context.  Accompanying the recipes are suggested musical tracks (from Mos Def to Mayer Hawthorne), book and film recommendations.

We hope you enjoy our variety of Busboys' vegan dishes during this author event!
