Join MakeSpace for an evening of mental health awareness and education as we seek to break down the barriers surrounding mental health within our community. Our group of panelists will be sharing their personal journeys of living with a mental health condition, followed by a question & answer and discussion session. This event will be the first in a series as we tackle the stigma surrounding mental health conditions. We aim to establish a supportive environment that encourages dialogue and ensures access to appropriate resources for mental health and wellness within our community.
The mission of the MakeSpace Health and Recreation (Health & Rec) Committee is to enable and promote the physical and mental well-being of members of the community. This is achieved through raising awareness, enabling knowledge sharing, and providing resources for a healthier community. MakeSpace’s Health & Rec strategies revolve around engaging the community in regular fitness and recreational programming, supporting healthy and nutritional eating habits, facilitating public health lectures and discussions, as well as raising awareness around illness and mental health. Our vision is to help foster the healthiest community we possibly can, through sustainable lifestyle habits and efforts inspired by Islamic teachings and ideals.
