Join When and Where I Enter, Inc. (WWIE) for a multimedia presentation and candid discussion about Latin America's Black women and girls. Our featured guests are Luz Marina of Colombia, general secretary of the Association of Internally Displaced Afro-Colombians, and Gabriela Watson Aurazo of Brazil, a documentary filmmaker. Myrna Peralta, a long-time D.C. resident who relocated here from Puerto Rico, will moderate. Peralta is president and CEO of the local nonprofit CentroNÃa.
WWIE, a Houston-based foundation, provides grants to support the essential work of Black women's grassroots organizations in Latin America. To date, we have given grants to NGOs in seven countries and Puerto Rico totaling nearly $70,000. Founder Veta Byrd-Perez will celebrate WWIE's 10th anniversary at this fundraiser—the organization's first-ever event in Washington, D.C.
