Miller’s writing, teaching, and involvement in groups including the Institute for Policy Studies, the African American Resource Center at Howard, the Humanities Council of D.C., and many other organizations has made him such an integral part of the city’s cultural life that he has been inducted into the D.C. Hall of Fame and there is an official E. Ethelbert Miller Day. The longtime editor of Poet Lore, Miller has written two memoirs and several collections of poetry; together at last all in one volume, Miller’s impassioned, sensitive, and moving poems form a vivid panorama of D.C. life over the last several decades.
