Description:

Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets 5th & K welcomes Virginia Heffernan to present the new book "Magic and Loss: The Internet as Art."

Heffernan currently writes on digital culture for The New York Times Magazine; she’s also a visiting scholar at NYU, and co-author of the graphic novel, The Underminer. In this wide-ranging consideration of the past, present, and future of the Internet, Heffernan focuses on the Web as art, looking at how it has changed the presentation and reception of ideas, and speculating on its as yet untapped potential. She draws on cultural influences from Wittgenstein to YouTube and Beyoncé as well as on her own experience.
