Join Dance Exchange and alumni artist Amie Dowling, whose work in the Bay area considers the politics and representation of mass incarceration, to explore the question, “what is the dance about?” Dowling and Reggie Daniels (key collaborator and facilitator and case manager at the San Bruno County Jail, CA), join a panel with Dr. Robert Johnson, professor at the American University Department of Justice, Law & Criminology, and Dance Exchange to discuss the role of art and activism in addressing issues of mass incarceration. The panel with explore the cultural and personal impact of bringing arts and dancemaking into the prison system and the future of cross-disciplinary collaborations in the justice system and beyond.
