Youth-focused and youth-led , Youth Open Mic is a monthly series that features student poets, singers, musicians and actors from the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. Middle school and high school students are encouraged to come share their art in our supportive, progressive, artistic atmosphere. Youth Open Mic is presented by Busboys and Poets in partnership with DC Youth Slam Team and Split This Rock.Â

Joseph LMS Green is a DMV based poet who has been writing, performing, and hosting for over 10 years. Joseph LMS began his career in the theatre and puts his years of performance training to good use every time he hits the stage. He has been a member of 5 National Poetry Slam teams including D.C’s own 2011 5th ranked Beltway Poetry Team. In the same year Joseph LMS placed 16th at the Individual World Poetry Slam. When not creating poetry or touring nationally, Joseph LMS is the Program Manager of the Northern VA based after school creative writing program poetryN.O.W. $5 Cover. On the day of the event, tickets can be purchased online here starting at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM in the Global Exchange Fair Trade Store (cash only). No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Tickets will be sold at the door if available. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.
