Description:

A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Lissa Piercey

Lissa Piercy is a performance poet and entrepreneur who lives mostly out of her olive green suitcase, but is based in Washington, DC. She began writing poems to process her own grief, and continued after discovering the power of poetry, community, and shared experience through open mics. Lissa has performed at conferences around the world, including the Opportunity Collaboration in Ixtapa, Mexico and the Skoll World Forum in Oxford, England. She is a MassLEAP trained teaching artist, a TEDx speaker, and a former National Poetry Slam team member. As a founding member of arts collective Flatline Poetry, Lissa tours Colleges and Universities teaching Residence Life staff how to create safer spaces on their campuses.

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.

$5 cover. Wristbands are available for purchase online here at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM (cash only). No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Tickets will be sold at the door if available. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.

Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats.
