Description:

The mission of the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) is to protect and restore the Anacostia River and its watershed communities. Because widespread community involvement is critical to achieving our mission, we host a variety of educational and recreational programs to introduce local residents to river and watershed issues. One of Anacostia Watershed Society's popular programs is their monthly Watershed Wednesday Happy Hour (WWHH) series. Typically offered on the second Wednesday of each month, each WWHH features a local speaker on a topic related to the ecology, history, or culture of the Anacostia River watershed, followed by Q&A.

Going Deeper in Nature

In nature, many of us find what Wendell Berry calls “the peace of wild things.” In the natural world, we experience a sense of quiet and space – and comfort, healing and hope during these uncertain times. Nature provides a place where we can go deep within ourselves, while at the same time having a sense of unity and connectedness with all creatures, and with each other. Join us as we discuss how to make room for going deeper in nature in our hectic, demanding lives. We’ll talk together about what the natural world means to us and share some very practical ways we can center ourselves in nature on a more regular basis.

The program will be led by Beth Norcross, Executive Director of the Center for Spirituality in Nature.
