The A.C.T.O.R. (A Continuing Talk on Race) open discussion series is hosted by Busboys and Poets as a community service. It provides the opportunity for people to come together and speak openly and honestly about issues of race. The intent is that each person walks away from the discussion feeling something: challenged, educated, uncomfortable, enlightened, refreshed, reassured and hopefully inspired and moved to action! Each month there is a new topic for discussion.
This month's topic: T'Challa to Killmonger Panel Discussion (Diaspora Roadshow)
The Diaspora Roadshow is a one-of-a-kind approach to engaging the US-Africa Diaspora community, and it is a part of Act4Accountability’s (ACT4) Diaspora RiseUP initiative in partnership with DIA-FUND, Think Africa, F3 Global, and Lil SoSo Productions.
T'Challa to Killmonger - Bridging the Gap from Africa to the Diaspora and Creating Lasting Connections
The objective of the Diaspora Roadshow is to highlight the diversity and strength of African Diaspora created businesses and ventures while building a Diaspora network across the United States. It is also an opportunity to fundraise through the Diaspora RiseUp fund, which supports vetted local African non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working to address issues like poverty, youth unemployment, access to quality education, gender rights, and economic opportunities for women.
Panelists will include:
- Omolola Adele-Oso - Act4Accountability - Executive Director and Cofounder
- Risikat Okedeyi - Lil SoSo Productions - Cultural Architect
- Korey Brown - Professor History
