DC’s own Carolyn Malachi is a shining example of how music truly is universal. Her compositions and arrangements, vocal talents, breathtaking live performances, and songwriting acumen serve global audiences of music lovers. The Grammy nominated artist, Fulbright awardee and Honorary Doctorate recipient is also the creator of GRITS & GARRI, a podcast which connects artists of the African diaspora to produce live collaborations while channelling intercultural curiosity and facilitating mutual understanding. Cryptocurrency, blockchain and international travel are among her favorite coffee table topics.

A spotlight of positivity in the literal and figurative darkness of nightclub culture, DJ Heat is a champion of Washington, DC area music as well as a noted national DJ. For 10 years, she made a name for herself at well-renowned radio station WPGC 95.5. Starting off as an intern for Big Tigger, she worked her way up to an on-air personality and mixshow DJ. In 2015 she ended her tenure at the radio station in order to focus on the next phase of her career. Since then, she has done guest radio appearances on stations such as New York's Hot 97 and SiriusXM's Shade 45, as well as DJing for Grammy winning recording artist Mya. In September 2017, DJ Heat marked her return to commercial radio by joining Baltimore's 92.3 WERQ. DJ Heat is also the official DJ for the WNBA's Washington Mystics.
Like many music professionals in the current generation, DJ Heat understands the necessity of navigating the space between excellent live performances and translating success to the digital realm. For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
$5 cover. Wristbands are available for purchase online at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM (cash only). No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.
Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats.
