LIVE! from Busboys: Talent Showcase & Open Mic
Hyattsville | Zinn Room | July 20,2012 | 10:00 pm - 12:00 am

A Busboys and Poets in-house series! “LIVE! from Busboys” is an open mic talent showcase that offers a platform for all performers, not just poets! Whether you are a musician, comedian, dancer, actor, magician or any other type of performer, we want to see what you got! So, come out and showcase your talent!

Tonight's LIVE! from Busboys is hosted by Stef Is Dope of the Art Under Pressure crew. His art blends conscious, intellectual social commentary, party anthems, street knowledge and feel good ride music with a splash of reggae and dancehall. His talents range from making music to photography, filmmaking, screen writing and emceeing.

A Maryland native and alternative soul singer, Terrence Cunningham's work is steeped in the natural velvet of black music, the pain and drama from the sweaty pulpit is peppered with heavy guitar, and slow buildups to swelling musical climaxes. Think Coldplay if Chris Martin was raised in the black church, or U2, if Bono was a child of the delta.

Terrence has shared the stage with vocal dynamo, Ledisi, as well as singer/songwriter Emily King. One of his most memorable accomplishments was performing a tribute song for the legendary comedian/activist Dick Gregory, with Gregory's daughter, singer Ayanna Gregory.

*Added bonus: LIVE VIDEO ART by Michael Pino!
