Jon Spelman’s writing and performing have been supported by individual grants from The 

National Endowment for the Arts, The Maryland Arts Council, the Arts Councils of Florida and

The District of Columbia. He has been Artist in Residence at the Blue Mountain Center in upstate

New York, at the Bellagio Center of The Rockefeller Foundation on Lake Como in northern Italy,

and at The Hermitage Artist Retreat in Florida. His work has been widely commissioned, and

performed in ten countries and at major festivals throughout the US, and at over 3000 other

locations in North America. “A stunning wordsmith and a riveting performer” (Washington POST).

Shirleta Settles is a native Washingtonian, known as “Not Just a Voice, but an Entertainer!”

because her performances are not limited to only music. She has the innate ability to connect and

interact with audiences of all ages, whether singing or storytelling, in staff development or as a

recording artist. Shirleta has traveled nationally and internationally sharing her gift of music and

storytelling. She has graced stages of Wolf Trap, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institute, Vegas,

festivals, schools, and political arenas. Shirleta has been featured on FOX 5 News as an

outstanding performer.
