Busboys and Poets Books Presents: Kwame Alexander
Takoma | Nicolás Guillén Room | November 5, 2017 | 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Please join Busboys and Poets Books at Takoma for a very special afternoon of poetry and rock ’n’ roll!

You will be treated to a poetry reading by Newbery Award Medalist Kwame Alexander, who will present excerpts from his new book "Solo," and hear musician Randy Preston perform original music composed for the book. All this followed up with a Q&A and book signing with author Kwame Alexander.

In "Solo," New York Times Bestselling and Newbery award-winning author Kwame Alexander explores what it means to finally come home in his new young adult novel co-written with Mary Rand Hess. Written in Alexander’s signature intricate and intimate style, Solo tells the story of seventeen-year-old Blade Morrison, whose life is bombarded with scathing tabloids and a father struggling with just about every addiction under the sun—including a desperate desire to make a comeback. Haunted by memories of his mother and his family’s ruin, Blade’s only hope is in the forbidden love of his girlfriend. But when Blade discovers a deeply protected family secret, he sets out on a journey across the globe that changes everything he thought to be true.

Books will be available for purchase before and after the event.
