Author Medea Benjamin, “Drone Warfare”
5th & K | Cullen | April 27,2012 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Medea Benjamin will discuss and sign her new book "Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control." Drone Warfare looks at the growing menace posed by the proliferation of drones for killing abroad and spying here at home. Right now, the military and the CIA have over 7,500 drones, over 50 countries have drones, and as soon as restrictions on domestic use are lifted in 2015, an estimated 30,000 will be flying in US airspace. Medea will discuss who is producing the drones, where they are being used, who are "piloting" these unmanned planes, who are the targets, what are the legal, moral, privacy and safety implications—and what we can do about it.  Cosponsored by Code Pink and the Institute for Policy Studies. // Free and open to all!
