This itinerary constitutes a full-time program of educational and people to people activists undertaken pursuant to the “general” license of the United States Department of Treasury

Draft Itinerary:

Day One: Saturday, October 20
Arrive in Havana; your Amistur interpreter will greet the group at the airport
Transfer to Havana. Depending on time of arrival you’ll enjoy lunch and then a walking tour of Old Havana by a Global Exchange representative. Check into Hotel Kohly or private homes. Dinner and evening of your own choosing

Day Two: Sunday, October 21
Breakfast at hotel or casa
10AM guided visit to the Museum of Revolution. Lunch at the lush Jardin de los Milagros, private eco-restaurant
Afternoon: Meet with Afro-Cuban Documentary Film Maker Gloria Rolando, to learn about little known Afro-Cuban history through documentaries.
Dinner and evening of your own.

Day Three: Monday, October 22
Breakfast at hotel or casa
9:30AM meet with the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Topic: The state of Cuba/US relations and ICAP’s work. Q&A to follow.
11AM visit National Sex Education Institute (CENESEX) Topic: Cuba’s unique approach to Gender, Sexuality, and sex education in Cuba
12:30PM Lunch at El Chansonnier private restaurant
2:30PM visit a school for students with special needs
Dinner on your own
9PM Cross the bay of Havana to visit the Morro Fortress and attend historic Canonazo Ceremony

Day Four: Tuesday, October 23
9AM visit a polyclinic and doctor’s office to learn about healthcare in Cuba
12PM Lunch
2:30PM Meet with Cuban economist to learn about Cuba’s rapidly shifting economy
Dinner on your own
Jazz Club

Day Five: Wednesday, October 24
10AM meet with Gisela Arandia on gender and race in Cuba
Noon Lunch
2PM visit the MLK Community Center and Baptist Church
4PM visit with Afro-Cuban Dance Company (BanRaRa, or similar) followed by dance demonstration and lessons
Dinner on your own

Day Six, Thursday, October 25
Leave hotel for Matanzas, province rich with Afro-Cuban history and traditions
Lunch at Varadero Beach Check in hotel in Varadero visit a CDR

Day Seven, Friday, October 26
Return to Havana
Visit the largest urban garden in Alamar then spend time in the San Jose Artisan crafts market
7PM Farewell Dinner

Day Eight, Saturday, October 27
Depart home (US)
