Busboys and Poets could not survive without the vibrant support of the community members that welcome us into their neighborhoods. We constantly work to sponsor and support programs and events that honor the communities where our restaurants are located.
From our various discussion series, to exhibiting the work of local artists, we recognize that Busboys and Poets exists only because of the patronage of our neighbors and guests. We believe that building community around shared beliefs and dialogue over food and drink links people in ways that are lasting and meaningful.
Busboys and Poets gives generously to a variety of organizations all working to make our world a better, more equitable place. A significant portion of our community contributions support local groups working toward a bright future for us all.

Projects we fund are the work of smart, passionate organizations whose efforts ensure that local communities have the best opportunities for growth and prosperity. Some of our most valued partnerships can be found right in our stores. Busboys and Poets is proud to offer our retail partners Teaching for Change and Global Exchange space at absolutely no cost. Teaching for Change owns and operates the Busboys and Poets bookstore at our 14th & V (DC) location. All proceeds from the sale of books go directly to Teaching for Change, a non-profit whose mission is to nurture and build social justice curriculum in schools—from kindergarten to college. The Global Exchange Fair Trade stores at our Shirlington (VA) and 5th & K (DC) locations sell a variety of gifts and crafts from around the world as well as books that speak to our shared values.
Busboys and Poets donates over 15% of our annual earnings in the form of in-kind contributions.
